I will be recording my BSL (Blood Sugar/Glucose Levels) to keep me accountable and on track!  I used to monitor & log at least 3 times a day, every day at the Accu-Check Website…I still need to monitor my BSL but not as frequently.   I want to check it 3 to 4  times a week at different times.  I will have the lasted record on top!  🙂

For most people, good blood sugar levels are:

On waking up (before breakfast) 80 to 120
Before meals 80 to 120
2 hours after meals 160 or less
At bedtime 100 to 140

  1. That’s great! Maybe I should do this too. I’m just getting the hang of it. I had some slightly confusing BSL’s today.

    BUT I just realized… whoops… I only have 3 test strips left!!! Can that be? From the sample pack I got in class on Tuesday. I guess.. I can get more at the drugstore right?

    These things are so frickin-frackin’ expensive aren’t they.

    It’s cheaper to get all the supplies through your insurance. You’ll have a perscription for the strips, your lancets etc….
    You’ll get the hang of it. Did you read my comment back about pricking the side of your finger instead of the pad? It doesn’t hurt at all there! 🙂

    Your BSL’s are confusing because you’re not used to monitoring it yet. It’s getting used to knowing what you’ve eaten, how you’ve exercted yourself, and stress! Stress causes high BSL’s bigtime! You’ll get the hang of it. Just keep a log and watch the patterns, that’s the only way you’ll know how to adjust your food and exercise in the future to get those numbers consistently low. You can do it!

    I meant to tell you that Foodie – some insurance companies give you a discount on your test strips because they prefer a different brand.

    Also, if you tell your doctor to write a prescription for more strips than you test, you get more – I have my doctor write out a script for 10 tests a day instead of 3 a day, so I get three times the amount for the same price.
